  This work is an English reader designed for introducing the founders of Hokusei Gakuen to students of English as a second language. It presents primarily the life and work of Sarah C. Smith, Clara H. Rose, and Alice M. Monk, in language teachers may adapt to their students' abilities and needs. It focuses on words these missionaries actually wrote and spoke, which reveal their individual personalities and ideas.
